What's the difference between the Line Art and Royal Portrait styles?
Line Art is a clean, minimalist drawing of your pet — the whole body, simple strokes, nothing added. Royal Portrait dresses them in a crown, military jacket and medal, drawn from the shoulders up. Line Art suits calm, neutral rooms; Royal Portrait is the one people pick when they want the gift to get a laugh. Both are laser-engraved on the same brass plate, in the same walnut frame, at the same price.
Should I choose portrait or landscape?
Portrait works best for sitting or standing poses and for the Royal Portrait style. Landscape suits lying-down poses, long-bodied pets, and any order with more than one pet, and it fits better on a narrow shelf or beside a monitor. The frame is the same either way — only the orientation of the artwork changes.
What kind of photo works best for a custom pet portrait?
A clear, well-lit photo taken at your pet's eye level, with their face turned toward the camera and their ears and markings visible. Daylight beats flash. Avoid photos where your pet is far away, in deep shadow, or partly hidden behind furniture. If you're not sure your photo will work, send it to us before ordering and we'll tell you honestly.
Will the engraving actually look like my pet?
Yes. Every portrait is drawn from your own photo, not picked from a library of breed templates, so the ear shape, coat texture and face are your pet's. Our artists work from the photo you upload and match the details that make them recognizable.
Does this work for cats as well as dogs?
Yes. Both art styles work for cats, dogs, rabbits and other pets — the artwork is drawn from your photo, whatever animal is in it.
Can I put more than one pet on the plate?
Yes. Upload a photo of each pet and we'll draw them together on one brass plate. For multiple pets we recommend the landscape orientation — it gives them room to sit side by side at a readable size, where portrait would shrink each one to fit.
Can I hang this on the wall?
No — this one is built to stand. The back has a fixed easel, so it's made for desks, shelves, mantels and nightstands rather than wall mounting.
How do I look after the brass?
Keep it indoors and away from steam and damp, and wipe the plate with a dry, soft cloth if it needs it. Skip liquid metal polish, which can dull the engraved lines.
How long does delivery take?
Because each plate is engraved to order, allow 3–5 business days for processing plus 5–15 business days for shipping. You'll get tracking by email as soon as it leaves us.
